Viña Concha y Toro was celebrating an international accolade at the Drinks Business Awards on May 19 in London. At a ceremony at the London Wine Fair, Concha y Toro was awarded ‘Drinks Company of the Year’ in the International division, reflecting a successful 12 months in global sales as well as major new corporate initiatives.
The judges said: “This goes to a company that evidently doesn’t like to rest on its laurels. Although the operation broke the through the billion-dollar mark for the first time in 2014, it was the investment in a new Centre for Research and Innovation in Chile that particularly impressed the judges. Dedicated to fostering a more sustainable future for the wine industry, this new facility will benefit both our winner, and viticulturists worldwide.”

Center for Research and Innovation
This award highlighted one of the most important initiatives that Concha y Toro has undertaken in the area of sustainability and corporate social responsibility: The Center for Research and Innovation (CRI), located in the Maule valley, Chile’s Seventh Region.
Representing an initial investment of about U.S. $5 million, the CRI is designed to support viti- and vinicultural research and experiment not only for the benefit of Concha y Toro, but to facilitate a qualitative leap for the entire Chilean wine. It’s also a response to the changes and new challenges faced by our industry, which at an agricultural and enological level means.
